About Humanity Under Pressure

Humanity Under Pressure is an interview series exploring serious mental illness, addiction, recovery, caregiving, grief, public policy, and the systems that shape people’s lives. Through thoughtful conversations with individuals, families, advocates, authors, and professionals, the series looks beyond labels to reveal the humanity within complicated experiences.

Creator and host Eric J. Dias brings professional knowledge and lived experience to these conversations. Eric has lived with schizoaffective disorder since adolescence and is in long-term recovery from alcohol use disorder. He is a keynote speaker, Certified Peer Specialist, addiction counselor, advocate, media professional, and author of the novel I Got Sober for This… His experiences with mental illness, addiction, recovery, and storytelling shape his compassionate and conversational approach to interviewing.

Humanity Under Pressure approaches every guest’s story with curiosity, compassion, and respect—never as spectacle. The goal is to amplify voices that are often overlooked, examine difficult issues honestly, and encourage meaningful conversations about treatment, recovery, dignity, and change.

Humanity Under Pressure is presented in partnership with the National Shattering Silence Coalition.
